I have a little secret to share. My photography process is completely different at each of my sessions. Why? Because it all revolves around you. I want to capture your family, your idiosyncrasies, and what makes you all you. I especially want to capture your love for each other. That’s what makes my heart skip a beat and keeps me going even when the business side of this can be so overwhelming. So every session is dictated on what you do, how much you can relax and just be in the moment. I don’t want your photos to look just like everyone else’s, because you are not like everyone else and that is what makes all of us beautiful; our uniqueness. I’m trying to embrace that in myself and I am passionate about capturing it for you. So go ahead and be yourselves, hug on and love on each other, laugh, tell jokes, and play! I promise I won’t be judging you.
I especially let the kids run the session. It’s hard enough for adults to be there, so I want to make it as awesome as I can for them. I often will shoot a few moments together and then we’ll go on a walk and go exploring. It helps to break up the session and stress for them to do something new, so please relax and trust my process. I don’t want them to feel pressure and anxiousness because that never translates into my favorite images. I have a fun little surprise for them too after we’re done. I also try to stick to a one hour time limit if we’re outside the whole time. Unless you’re in your home some of the time, over an hour seems to be about the melt down time and I don’t ever want to go there. I want the session to give you amazing images, but I also want to have created some fun, happy memories to go along with it. Please tell me anything and everything in your questionnaire. The more I know about you all and what you love, or even don’t love, the better our images will be.
Plan to possibly go home wet or covered in sand if we’re on the beach. We want to make the most of everything we can and I’m going to be climbing all over the place. I may even ask you to lay in the sand! Don’t be afraid. Just go for it. This introvert comes home and crashes after every session, but I’m also on cloud nine, because I absolutely LOVE what I do. I love meeting new families who I honestly fall in love with. I bond easily, people. It’s just me, but I think it helps me see the beauty in your family better. I really hope this helps you get a better idea of what our session together will be like. I can’t wait to meet you! And just for fun, I’m posting some random photos I took for a photo challenge from a friend. It was pretty fun trying to get creative.
