It’s blog circle time! Our theme this month is Scenes from a Road Trip. I’m a little bummed, because the roll of film I shot for this still hasn’t been sent to me. I shot it in Georgia on an amazing property on a gorgeous black and white film. I’ve been pretty excited to see it but unfortunately it’s taking a long time.
These images are from a roll of film I shot back in July, but it was on a camping trip so it still follows along with the theme. We went camping up in Koke’e, which is one of our favorite parts of Kauai. It’s so beautiful and peaceful there. I swear my soul is filled in the mountains. They’re just healing to me. I grew up camping in the mountains for family vacations. I still need to take my little family to Yosemite someday, which was one of my very favorite places.
We were able to go with our close friends, the Porters, and my brother and his family were visiting us at the time so it was an extra special trip. I hadn’t seen my brother in several years and he is one of my very favorite people in the world. Our sons are two days apart and were the best of friends before we moved, so it was extra special to have them as visitors.
We had a lot of fun finding wild fruit to eat. There were plums and blackberries. Ben was awesome and climbed trees to get the plums down for us. It was an adventure in that it got so cold at night and the air was so humid everything got soaking wet, and I do mean soaking. Once the sun came up, it all dried up quickly but we know to be ready for it and bring a lot more warm clothes for next time. There was a huge open space for us to run and play games, gorgeous hikes and I hope we made as wonderful of memories for my kids as I had camping as a child. I hope you guys enjoy a few of the highlights from our trip. Check out my friend Carol’s post on our theme. She does amazing work.
These are beautiful, Erin! I just love the way film renders color. The richness and depth is amazing!
