Disneyland is one of our family’s favorite places and we try to get there as often as we can. We went in January and panicked, realizing Sienna would soon be an adult and off to college. Our days of going as a family of six were limited. Since you can add the amount of your tickets towards an annual pass, we decided we would upgrade and make it later that year. It was tough to do, but we made it work. I grew up going to Disneyland with my grandparents, who are pretty much my favorite people in the world. Grandma passed away almost 8 years ago, but my grandpa, who is 88, always tries to come out for a day with us in the park, and it means everything to me. Watching my kids do something with Grandpa that I did, watching them have those memories with this man I love and adore so much, it’s what life it about. I was sitting next to him, with us all on the Radiator Springs Racers ride, and he was laughing his head off and I just felt like it was the best moment in my life. Obviously, so many moments are, but I was trying to just burn these into my mind. I don’t ever want to forget.
I decided to shoot it on film while we were there. It’s kind of nice to go on vacation and just mail off the film when I get home. A little while later, I get the scans and don’t really need to do much editing and they’re ready to go. Plus, the surprise of what I shot is awesome. The stuff I shot on digital I haven’t even finished editing. Film makes it so stuff gets done. I hope you enjoy some of these special moments in my life.
