This month’s blog circle theme is Scenes from the Morning. I decided I wanted to make my images on Lucy’s 5th birthday, so it would be a special morning for us. I hate it and I love it that she’s growing up. I want to keep her a baby, with her soft, squishy, freckled cheeks for one more day. Even though it is so bittersweet, I know it will also be fun watching her as she continues to grow and one day, not too far in the future, we’ll be hanging out as friends. The experience of raising children is so agonizingly beautiful. It’s about dealing with change, something I hate and try to avoid as often as possible. It’s about learning to let go over time, to allow your child to hopefully become the best version of themselves with as little issues caused by the way you raised them. We’re all just trying to do a little better than our parents did and who knows if anything is actually any better. I just hope my kids know how much I utterly adore them. How I cherish the beauty that is in the chaos of parenting them. I guess I’m feeling extra nostalgic, having my littlest baby now five. It’s such a grown up number.
Don’t forget to check out my amazingly talented friend Ann‘s scenes from the morning, and the rest of us in the group. It’s always so fun to me to see everyone’s unique take on the theme.
