This family. When Christy contacted me and told me they had chosen me out of other photographers to capture their 20th wedding anniversary/Kauai vow renewal, I was so honored. They even mentioned that their daughter who was specializing in photography in high school loved my work and their son thought it was cool that I also did CrossFit, like he did.
I felt like we would click based on our many emails back and forth, but when I met them, I felt like I already knew them. I think shooting photos for people is a bonding experience. To capture great photos, we both need to be a little vulnerable and let down some of our walls. And they totally did that. I love families because I love seeing the different dynamics of each one. We’re all different, we all have our own quirks. I loved this family and their beautiful love and interaction. They even sang part of the vampire opera from ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall.’ I loved it, and them.
