I was able to attend the Clickaway conference this past October in Seattle. I went two years ago when it was in Salt Lake City and it was an awesome experience. Honestly, the best part was being able to meet and hang out with women who have been part of my photography journey from the very beginning. They’ve cheered me on, supported me, critiqued me, and been there to tell me to pick myself off from the ground when I’m in a creative funk and get to work. I would not be where I am today without them. I may not have been able to spend as much time with some of them as I would have liked, but it’s always crazy with different class schedules going on. Just being able to see their faces, which quite a few I’d never seen in real life before, and hug them, was so priceless.
Seattle is one of the least expensive places you can fly to from Kauai and I knew I loved the city from a conference I attended there several years ago so it was a no brainer to attend. I only brought my film camera and had an amazing time just walking around and taking photos of the city, especially since it was fall. I love fall weather and leaves and smells more than I can say. I adore Kauai, don’t get me wrong. It’s such a special, beautiful place. But I do have to admit that it’s hard for me sometimes to not have four seasons anymore. I miss Utah so much October through December. Getting to wear my boots, scarves, hat, and coats was awesome and a great reminder that while I love fall, I HATE being cold.
I’ll stop going on and on now. Hopefully you guys enjoy my street photography from Seattle. These were all shot with my Pentax 645N camera and 75mm lens. Film stock was Kodak Portra 400, pushed one stop. Developed and scanned at The Find Lab.
