Oh how I love a Hanalei Bay sunset session. The light, the mountains, waterfalls most of the time. It’s a magical place. I used to shoot at an area up that was damaged in a crazy flood almost a year ago, but it’s such a big beach and there are still plenty of areas where we can avoid being surrounded by people. I used to avoid it in the past because it can get really busy, but now I think that’s crazy. It’s totally worth it.
This gorgeous family was amazing. We started at the house, which is one of my favorite places to shoot. Images at a home are just more meaningful and closest to real life, which is always what I’m going for. The house was a couple of blocks from the beach, so I also got to get shots of everyone walking, or even riding bikes over there. That stuff fills my soul. I know it sounds weird, and it’s probably because I’m a sap. I embrace it.
The brother and sister-in-law of the main family were also going to be announcing their pregnancy, so the family did this beautiful circle to honor them. We’d rescheduled due to weather and pushed this back a day, which was perfect. The light was perfect, the beautiful family were perfect. This session really was magical.

I’d love to chat about your own Hanalei Bay sunset session!
